Fibers
Fibers are present in virtually every aspect of our personal environment and are easily transferred from one source to another. Sources for synthetic and/or natural fibers include clothing, carpets, upholstery, drapery and bedding. Fibers can be used to infer an association between individuals or between individuals and objects.
Paint
Paint analysis generally begins with the simplest non-destructive tests available and proceeds with other types of analyses. Paint particles from clothing or paint smear from an automobile collision may be collected & analyzed. One of the challenges in performing paint analysis is examining multi-layered paint samples as can be found on cars and trucks.
Glass
The forensic analysis of glass involves determining whether two or more samples share the same physical properties, and whether they are consistent with sharing a common origin. Such determinations are based on the comparison of color, shape, fluorescence, refractive index and density.
