THE JOB
We are seeking a skilled forensic scientist with a proven track record conducting investigations and examinations of firearms. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in crime scene reconstruction and other aspects of criminalistics such as blood stain pattern and gunshot residue interpretation. There is a strong emphasis on interpersonal skills and report writing because of the type of expert services we provide. Critical thinking, leadership abilities, a collaborative approach, and expertise across multiple forensic disciplines are imperative. As a Sr. Forensic Scientist (Firearms Examiner) at Forensic Analytical Crime Lab you will join our 3-person team of Firearms/Toolmark/General Criminalist experts. All criminalists directly collaborate with administrative professional staff as well as technical staff. The Sr. Forensic Scientist also supports the development of laboratory procedures, participates in staff training, and updating SOPs. Additional responsibilities include expert court testimony, interdepartmental collaboration, and contributing to administrative functions such as client relations, discovery organization and case budgeting.

CONSULTING FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST
Type: Consultant | Full Time
THE JOB
Forensic Analytical Crime Lab is seeking a full-time consulting forensic pathologist in Northern California to perform discovery review, consultation, evidence examination, report preparation and testimony in civil and criminal cases.
We are a multi-disciplinary private lab that prides itself on seeing what others miss. Criminalists often collaborate across disciplines to provide the most thorough review of the case and the evidence. We are dedicated to helping the justice system by educating our clients about the work we do in addition to thoroughly reviewing the case with an unbiased eye. The client base for the pathology work is largely the criminal defense community, but also includes law enforcement, prosecuting attorneys, plaintiff attorneys and civil defense attorneys. On a rare occasion the performance of autopsies may be requested, however is not a typical service we provide.
Minimum qualifications include:

A full, current, unrestricted California medical license

Board certification by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and forensic pathology

Documentation of prior testimony and qualification as an expert in forensic pathology

Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
